The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management will open a service centre in Neskaupsstaður on Monday, April 3.

The National Police Commissioner in cooperation with the Red Cross and Fjarðarbyggð  will

open a service centre on upcoming  Monday. The service centre will be located in

Egilsbud, Neskaupstadar's social centre, and the opening hours after the weekend will be as follows:

  • Monday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Tuesday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • Wednesday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m

The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management will open a service centre in Neskaupsstaður on Monday, April 3.

The opening hours of the service centre on either side of Easter holidays will be announced shortly after the weekend. The service centre will be open as long as needed.

The service centre's mission consists in supporting residents and others who have in some way have been affected by flooding and the risk of flooding in East Fjords. The support includes provision of information and helpful education amongst other things. The Red Cross will continue to offer psychosocial support at the service centre. Emphasis is placed on that the service centre is available to everyone in East Fjords. Those who have not been able to come visit or prefer not to come in person  may have contact by phone or e-mail.

Residents of East Fjords are encouraged to use the service centre with anything that weighs on them due to the events of the last days.
